Peta's Pinot Noir
Wine
Oakdene Peta's Pinot Noir is grown on the Bellarine Peninsula, where the cool maritime climate lengthens the ripening season and produces low yields of high quality fruit.
The vines, planted in 2001, are all hand harvested. Most of the fruit is destemmed, with around 20% kept as whole bunches. Fermentation takes place with wild yeasts in a small open vat.
The wine is then pressed to French oak barrels, one third new, for malolactic fermentation and 12 months of maturation. There is typically no fining at bottling.
Deep garnet, Oakdene Peta's Pinot Noir balances fruit weight with firm acidity, ripe tannins and savoury whole bunch notes. Cellaring potential is seven years.
