Adelaide Hills Chardonnay
Wine
Michael Hall Adelaide Hills Chardonnay is sourced from the Garden Block at Piccadilly in the Adelaide Hills. The site lies at a chilly 500 metres elevation on the eastern lee of Mount Lofty.
In some years the wine also comprises fruit from nearby areas such as Lenswood and Verdun. The vines are all harvested by hand.
Wild yeast fermentation occurs in new and seasoned French oak barrels. The wine also sees partial malolactic fermentation, typically at least 30%. It then matures for 10 months before it is bottled unfined.
Pale golden yellow, Michael Hall Adelaide Hills Chardonnay has a zesty, pithy citrus core with tightly wound minerality. Cellaring potential is five years.
