Wine
Main Ridge Estate Half Acre Pinot Noir is an outstanding Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir. It draws from a minute pocket of vines high on the estate vineyard at Red Hill.
Set in shallow soils, the Half Acre Vineyard produces smaller bunches and berries than its sibling The Acre Vineyard, resulting in a more intense, tannic wine.
The grapes are destemmed but not crushed for warm, natural fermentation in hand plunged open vats. After macerating on skins, the juice is pressed to new and seasoned French oak barrels.
Malolactic fermentation and maturation take place over 18 months. At 12 months, the wine is racked and returned to barrel. There is no fining or filtration at bottling.
Crimson purple, Main Ridge Estate Half Acre Pinot Noir is fine boned with rich dark fruit flavours, earthy spice and silky tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
