Brokenback Shiraz
Wine
Leogate Estate Wines Brokenback Shiraz draws from the Brokenback Vineyard at Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley. The vines grow in fertile red clays and chocolate clay loams.
The fruit is handpicked, crushed and destemmed. Fermentation occurs on skins in open top stainless steel fermenters. Hand plunging and pump overs are used to extract vibrant colours and flavours from the fruit.
Once pressed of skins, the wine is matured in a mix of new and seasoned oak casks for 12 months. The barrels are predominantly French, with a small portion of American oak in some vintages. The wine is fined and filtered before bottling.
Purple crimson, Leogate Estate Wines Brokenback Shiraz is medium bodied with layered ripe fruits, French oak complexity and spice. Cellaring potential is seven years.
