The Stray Grenache Shiraz
Wine
Hentley Farm The Stray Grenache Shiraz takes the traditional Barossa blend of Grenache and Shiraz and brings a unique twist to it by adding a small percentage of Zinfandel.
The Grenache and Zinfandel are grown on a single block at a former quarry, where harsh soils reduce the vigour of the vines and lead to intensely flavoured fruit. The Shiraz is grown on a separate block.
Each variety is vinified separately. Most of the grapes undergo extended maceration, with some batches spending up to 90 days on skins.
Each component is pressed to seasoned oak barrels, mostly French with some American, for natural malolactic fermentation. The wine is then racked off lees and returned to barrel to age for eight months.
Bright crimson, Hentley Farm The Stray Grenache Shiraz is abundantly aromatic. Soft and silky, it has complex berry flavours and earthy tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
