Johann's Garden
Wine
Henschke Johann's Garden is named for the Barossa's Lutheran pioneers, many of whom had the first name 'Johann'. These growers referred to their vineyard as their garden, from the German Weingarten.
Their toil, perseverance and conservatism in hardship laid the foundation for the generations that followed.
The wine is a Grenache blend sourced from dry grown vineyards. It is typically 70% Grenache, 25% Mataro and 5% Shiraz. Each variety is handpicked from old, gnarled low yielding vines and vinified separately.
The wine matures in seasoned French oak hogsheads for eight months before blending and bottling.
Deep garnet crimson, Henschke Johann's Garden is rich with fragrant red berry flavours, firm yet silky tannins and lasting length. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
