Abednego Shiraz Mourvèdre Grenache
Wine
Grant Burge Abednego Shiraz Mourvèdre Grenache is drawn from low yielding Barossa Valley estate vines more than 100 years old. It is typically 40% Shiraz, 35% Mourvèdre and 25% Grenache.
The crushed grapes ferment on skins for a week. Select parcels are either pressed to stainless steel for settling, or left for extended maceration over 3-4 weeks. The wine is then pressed and transferred to oak.
It ages in seasoned French oak foudre vats and puncheons for 16 months. The Abednego is one of the Grant Burge trio of premium reds, alongside Meshach Shiraz and Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon.
Deep purple red, Grant Burge Abednego Shiraz Mourvèdre Grenache has rich dark fruit flavours. Its fine tannins ensure a long, textured finish. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
