Australian Old Vine Collection Eden Valley Shiraz
Wine
Gibson Australian Old Vine Collection Eden Valley Shiraz is part of the Barossa Old Vine Charter project.
Rob Gibson looks for the oldest corners of Australia's established wine regions to make wines sourced from the remnants of original plantings.
Most of the fruit is Eden Valley Shiraz sourced from vines over 50 years old. They produce minute quantities of small, concentrated berries with intense flavour. A small amount of Barossa Cabernet completes the blend.
The grapes are fermented in small open fermenters with daily plunging. The wine matures for 20 months in predominantly new French oak barrels.
Inky red, Gibson Australian Old Vine Collection Eden Valley Shiraz is medium to full bodied, its dark fruit flavours and acidity finely balanced in a lasting finish.
A classic Eden Valley Shiraz. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
