Australian Old Vine Collection Barossa Shiraz
Wine
Gibson Australian Old Vine Collection Barossa Shiraz is part of the Barossa Old Vine Charter project.
Rob Gibson looks for the oldest corners of Australia's established wine regions to make wines sourced from the remnants of original plantings.
This wine is the first in the collection, handpicked from three very small plantings in the Barossa Valley dating back to the 1850s. It is a classic Barossa Shiraz made with traditional winemaking techniques.
The grapes ferment in small open fermenters with daily plunging. The wine matures for 30 months in 70% new French and 30% new American oak.
Dark plum, Gibson Australian Old Vine Collection Barossa Shiraz has spicy black fruit flavours, perfectly balanced tannins and a long, generous finish. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
