Chardonnay
Wine
Freycinet Chardonnay draws from the original 1979 estate plantings in a small sheltered valley in Tasmania. Situated 42 degrees south of the equator, the vineyard mirrors the latitudinal line of Burgundy in France.
Chardonnay's homeland is Burgundy, the winemaking is traditional. The grapes are barrel fermented in French oak casks, a small portion new. During 10 months of maturation there is periodic lees stirring.
Pale straw, Freycinet Chardonnay is lightly wooded with fresh citrus and melon flavours and subtle spicy oak. The finish is crisp, long and seamless. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
