Wine
Fighting Gully Road Chardonnay draws from two Beechworth vineyards: the Fighting Gully Road estate vineyard and the Smith's Vineyard which, planted in 1978, contains the region's oldest vines.
The grapes are handpicked, chilled overnight and whole bunch pressed. The juice and light solids are racked to barrel for fermentation at 20-22°C. Both indigenous and cultured yeasts are used.
The wine is sulphured to prohibit malolactic fermentation. Maturation occurs in Italian coopered French oak hogsheads for 10 months.
Pale straw, Fighting Gully Road Chardonnay is a textural, medium bodied wine with delicate oak flavours creating a persistent finish. Cellaring potential is five years.
