Premier Pinot Noir

Rochford Premier Pinot Noir is sourced from a single block of the winery's Hill Road Vineyard at Coldstream. Grown on an ancient high river terrace in iron rich, deep volcanic soils, these vines represent the best of the site.

The grapes are handpicked and partially destemmed with up to 50% left as whole bunches. After a short cold soak, they are open fermented with natural yeasts. Natural malolactic fermentation follows.

The wine sees extended maceration on skins, then is pressed to a mix of new and seasoned French oak barrels to mature. It is racked off lees just prior to bottling without fining or filtration.

Vibrant crimson, Rochford Premier Pinot Noir combines dense red and dark fruit flavours with savoury, earthy notes. Silky tannins lengthen the finish. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
