Moppa Shiraz
Wine
Spinifex Moppa Shiraz draws from a small, old vineyard in the extreme north-west corner of the Barossa at Moppa. The site was planted sometime in the 1940s or 1950s.
The fruit is hand harvested in several parcels. It ferments with 30-40% whole bunch inclusion in a mix of wood and stainless steel fermenters. Both primary and malolactic fermentation occur naturally.
The wine matures in new and seasoned French oak demi-muids (600 litre barrels) and smaller barriques. The wine is kept on light lees until blending. There is no fining or filtration prior to bottling.
Deep ruby, Spinifex Moppa Shiraz is medium bodied and aromatically complex with dark fruit flavours and pomegranate acidity. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
