Un Segreto Sangiovese Syrah

Castagna Un Segreto Sangiovese Syrah, released only in select years, is essentially a blend of the winery's two leading wines: La Chiave Sangiovese and Genesis Syrah.

The fruit is grown on the estate vineyard, situated at 500 metres elevation just outside the Beechworth township. The site is certified organic and biodynamic, and the vines are pruned and harvested by hand.

The winemaking is traditional with minimal interference. Only indigenous yeasts on the grape skins are used for fermentation. The wine then matures in tight grained French oak for 18-20 months.

Dark red purple, Castagna Un Segreto Sangiovese Syrah is earthy and textural with black fruit flavours and chiselled tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
