Soumah The Butcher is a celebration of the winery's patriarch, Frank Wynward Butcher. A horticultural research scientist, he inspired Soumah's quest for alterative grape varieties.
The wine puts a modern twist on the age old Australian blend, combining Syrah (Shiraz) and Cabernet Sauvignon with the Italian variety Nebbiolo. It is aged in 25% new French oak for a minimum of 18 months to integrate the aromas and flavours.
Rich red, Soumah The Butcher melds the Syrah's fruit concentration, the Cabernet's savoury focus and the Nebbiolo's structure. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
