The Rocket Limited Release Chardonnay

Murdoch Hill The Rocket Limited Release Chardonnay is sourced from a premium selection of vineyards in the Piccadilly Valley and Lobethal areas of the Adelaide Hills.

All the fruit is hand harvested. It is then part whole berry and whole bunch pressed into French oak barrels.

Like all of Murdoch Hill's Artisan series, fermentation occurs spontaneously with wild yeasts. In 2017, one of the winery's Chardonnay ferments took off "like a rocket", prompting winemaker Michael Downer to keep it separate.

The wine, made in extremely limited quantities, now represents the best parcels of Chardonnay. It ages and sees partial malolactic fermentation in barrel before bottling.

Straw yellow, Murdoch Hill The Rocket Limited Release Chardonnay has pure Adelaide Hills acidity, complex citrus notes and a fine mineral finish. Cellaring potential is five years.
