Wine
Patina Jezza Red Blend is grown on the rich volcanic soils of Mount Canobolas, located near Orange in New South Wales's central highlands. It is made only in exceptional years.
The wine is named after winemaker Gerald Naef, affectionately dubbed 'Jezza' by his nephews. It is a Bordeaux style blend of primarily Merlot with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
The grapes are crushed, cold soaked and fermented in a vat. Late in the ferment, the wine is pressed off skins and aged in new and seasoned oak barrels, mostly French; a single American oak barrel adds interest.
Dark ruby red, Patina Jezza Red Blend begins with fresh ripe fruit flavours followed by subtle oak, soft tannins and a long finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
