Esprit Grenache Blend
Wine
Spinifex Esprit Grenache Blend is handpicked from several old vine vineyards in Ebenezer and Moppa in the northern Barossa and the Eden Valley. Vine ages range between 65 and 160 years.
The blend is typically 60% Grenache and 40% Mataro with a small addition of Cinsault. The different vineyards and varieties play their part, each contributing to the aroma, flavour and structure of the wine.
The grapes wild ferment as whole berries in small open stainless steel fermenters with one third whole bunch inclusion. After extended maceration, élevage is commenced in large format oak on light lees.
Élevage is a traditional approach that develops the wine from its raw state after fermentation to bottling. After nine months on oak it is bottled without fining or filtration.
Bright garnet, Spinifex Esprit Grenache Blend is an aromatically deep Barossa red. It has the ripe fruit taste of Grenache and the spice flavours of Mataro. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
