Alexander Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Mount Horrocks Alexander Vineyard Shiraz is sourced from the organic, estate grown Alexander Vineyard, located in an isolated corner of Watervale in the Clare Valley.
The fruit is handpicked at optimum ripeness. A portion is whole bunch foot crushed in open fermenters, resulting in a fresher, more perfumed and less tannic parcel of wine.
The remaining fruit is handled more traditionally. It is crushed, cold soaked on skins and fermented with plunging four times a day. This produces a weightier, more deeply coloured and flavoured wine.
Both components spend 18 months in new and seasoned French oak before blending. Once bottled, the wine matures for a further nine months prior to release.
Dark cherry red, Mount Horrocks Alexander Vineyard Shiraz has lively red and black fruits, toasty spice and plush, lingering tannins. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
