White Label Saxonvale Shiraz Mourvèdre
Wine
Margan White Label Saxonvale Shiraz Mourvèdre is sourced from a mature block of vines on the Saxonvale Vineyard at Broke Fordwich in the Hunter Valley.
In the vineyard, the Shiraz and Mourvèdre vines are interplanted to form a field blend. The Shiraz ripens first, but remains on the vine until the later ripening Mourvèdre is ready for harvest.
The varieties are picked together and co-fermented under cool conditions using cultured aromatic yeast. After fermentation the wine is placed in new and seasoned French oak barrels for at least 12 months of maturation.
Deep ruby, Margan White Label Saxonvale Shiraz Mourvèdre is a fuller style of Hunter Shiraz with rich dark fruits, dusty tannins and warm spice. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
