Seventeen Rows Pinot Noir
Wine
Quealy Seventeen Rows Pinot Noir is sourced from the inaugural Pinot Noir vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula – just 17 rows of vines established in 1982.
It was these venerable vines that lured Kathleen and Kevin Quealy to Balnarring. They revived and reinvigorated the vines when they purchased the property in 2003.
Fermentation begins in one tonne pots, then the batches are blended via gravity for extended time on skins. Once the grape skins settle to the bottom, the wine is racked away and the skins are drained of their free run juice.
The wine matures in Quealy's cold stores, the barrels topped up regularly to ensure minimal air exposure. After 12 months, it is racked off lees in preparation for bottling.
Crimson red, Quealy Seventeen Rows Pinot Noir has pristine red fruit flavours and subtle spice with a rich, lingering finish. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
