Wine

Voyager Estate MJW Cabernet Sauvignon is the pinnacle of Voyager Estate Cabernet. It is named after Michael J Wright, who acquired Voyager Estate in 1991 and built its reputation for quality.

Until the release of the 2012 vintage, the wine was bottled under the Tom Price label. After Michael J Wright's passing in 2012, his daughter Alexandra Burt and winemaker Steve James renamed it in his honour.

Cabernet fruit is handpicked from two exceptional vineyard blocks: the Estate Old Block, planted in 1978, and North Block 12, planted in 1995. A small parcel of Petit Verdot adds aromatic complexity.

Keeping each parcel separate, the fruit is carefully destemmed to retain as many whole berries as possible. As it ferments the juice sees regular gentle working. Once pressed, the batches mature in 50% new French oak barrels for 18 months.

The best barrels are blended and returned to oak to age for a further six months prior to bottling. Only tiny quantities are ever produced, and only in the finest vintages.

Dark red, Voyager Estate MJW Cabernet Sauvignon displays great fruit purity, texture and finesse. Medium bodied, it has a core of sweet berry flavours with earthy nuances providing a savoury element.

The king of Voyager Estate Cabernet. Cellaring potential is 20 years.
